A large substantial silver tribal ring worn by both the Fulani people (also known as Peul, Fulbe) and the Hausa people of the African Sahel (Nigeria, Niger and Mali).

It is an old ring with beautiful shape, made circa 1940s. It has copper inlay stripes on the head of the ring and intricate decoration around the outside. This is a distinctive Fulani style. A double band with some serration completes the ornate ring.

This ring has a lovely worn patina, attesting to its age. Impressive, beautiful, and unusual. The last photo is of similar rings in the MAP jewellery museum in Marrakech.
