Old Silver Siwa Disc 'Adrim' Pendant & Chain, Egypt
A vintage high-grade silver disc pendant and chain from the Siwa Oasis in Egypt. Both the solid bale and the disc pendant have a very intricate hand-chiselled design and are in very good vintage condition. The old chain is also high-grade silver and is beautiful.
Originally the disc or adrim would have been attached to a torque or aghraw to wear around the neck as a necklace. After a woman's marriage ceremony the bride would keep the torque and pass on the adrim to a younger female relative. This would account for why this adrim is on a different chain and no longer on a torque.
A fabulous attractive piece of ethnic jewellery to wear or collect.
