RARE Old Gilded Silver Earrings, Bukhara, Uzbekistan
An outstanding pair of silver, fire gilded Bukharan earrings from Uzbekistan, made in the 1960s. Two stylised birds’ heads adorn the top of each earring, surmounted by a large coral bead, with several pale coral beads embellishing the dangles. At the centre is a protruding flower shape with lots of turquoise beads set on it and surrounding it. The many jingly dangles have a gilded silver leaf-shaped element suspended from each of them. The ear hooks are 0.7 mm wire width, suitable for wearing. These really are wonderful earrings to wear and treasure – a statement pair.
