Vintage Brass, Silver and Copper Tuareg Tcherot Amulet – Large
Huge brass tcherot amulet pendant, made by Tuareg people in the 1970s. This amulet is highly decorated with neatly etched designs on the layered brass, silver, and copper elements, the tcherot being suspended on fine leather cord with further leather decorative elements and wool fringing.
A fine example of a traditional Tuareg tcherot which would have contained verses from the Qur'an, believed to afford protection to the wearer. The use of different metals was believed to add further protection from any danger or illness. A collectible piece in very good condition for its age.
