Large Antique Turkmen Tekke Amulet Box – RARE

This beautiful early 20th century circular amulet box is made of high-grade silver (tested) with floral fire gilding and wirework. It has a central carnelian stone and would have been worn on a chain as a cherished part of a tribal bridal outfit . Scriptures would have been added inside the box which were believed to attract good fortune, prosperity and health to the bride. This is a lovely rare example of this type of ethnic adornment, also known as girda or gulyakhan. It is in very good condition for its age. The last photo is of a similar piece in the MAP Museum, Marrakech.
