Silver Tuareg Cross of Agadez, Niger, West Africa
A silver (tested) Tuareg Cross of Agadez pendant from Niger, featuring fine tribal etchings on silver. It is reversible, with motifs on both sides. A cross such as this was passed from father to son at the age of puberty as a protective pendant on his future travels. It was also commonly worn by the women of the oasis town of In-Waggeur where this shaped cross was likely to have been made, either as a necklace or as hair adornment. A very wearable symbolic pendant.
Photo props are not included.
