Vintage Silver Tuareg Tisek Tanfouk Ring, Mali
Striking vintage Tuareg high-grade silver ring with opaque carnelian tanfouk. This ring is highly decorative with hand-etched tribal designs on both sides of the silver setting and a beautifully shaped band. Tisek rings can be worn as finger rings or as pendants on leather cord. This ring is more likely to have been worn as a pendant due to the length and pointed end of the tanfouk. Tuareg people also wear them braided into their hair.
The carnelian represents the life force and offers perceived protection to the wearer. A beautiful ring/pendant in very good vintage condition.
