Vintage Silver Tunisian Louha Pendant & Chain
An attractive high-grade silver Tunisian pendant, made in the 1990s. It is in the shape of a louha, an Islamic door or mihrab (prayer niche). The design features a prominent filigree central khamsa (hand shape) with fish either side, underneath which are further filigree scroll patterns. A similar design is on the reverse of the pendant. The blue, green, red and ochre coloured enamel is lovely.
The khamsa depictions offer perceived protection from harm to the wearer and the fish attracts positive energy. This unusual pendant is supplied with an old silver chain for immediate wear.
