Old Silver Ait Atta Headdress, Msemrir, Morocco

£425.00

Wonderful old 1940s high-grade silver headdress worn by the women of the Ait Atta tribe in Msemrir in the Dadès valley. It comprises three main dominant elements shaped in the female form, from which hang three strong chains worn either side of the head. Small khamsa pendants are suspended from the inner chain as protective elements for the wearer against the perceived ‘evil eye’. The headdress is attached to the wearer’s head veil by means of three etched decorative hooks. This is a lovely collectible piece with patina and in good vintage condition.
