An amazing old and rare silver amulet (hirz) pendant from the small oasis town of Figuig, which lies near the border of Morocco and Algeria. Jewellery from this region is now very scarce.

This beautiful piece is more than 100 years old. It is identifiable as from this region due to the use of thick green and ochre enamelling with no wire boundary, unlike enamelling techniques traditionally used in other regions of Morocco. The enamelling on this piece has a lot of wear, displaying a wonderful natural patina. Red Prosser beads, old silver coins and a central element (possibly representing a bird) complete this beautiful pendant. A fabulous piece for the discerning collector.
