A rare antique 19th century Tibetan purse, made of yak leather and adorned with an embellished silver front panel. At the centre of the decorative panel is an ornate coral cabochon.

The purse was traditionally used by rural Tibetan farmers to carry small cartridges. It opens to reveal a pouch designed for this purpose. The purse opens and closes by means of a hook on the inner lid. A brass decorative bar with bail tops the purse enabling it to be attached to a belt.

This is a wonderful ethnographic piece to add to your collection.
