Vintage Bohemian (Czech) Glass Necklace, Mali
A beautiful vintage glass wedding necklace, made in Mali, traditionally passed from mother to daughter on her wedding day. Each necklace is unique as it was strung individually with specially chosen beads for the wearer.
The lovely glass beads were made in Bohemia (modern-day Czechia) in the 1800s and were used throughout Africa for trade. The pear-shaped beads were especially prized by Fulani women due to their resemblance to the female form.
This necklace is very bright and colourful with a mixture of patterned and plain glass beads, all symmetrically matched and placed on the necklace with a central pink patterned triangular bead. The necklace ties with a hook. A unique necklace to wear and treasure.
