Antique Silver Enamelled Tagemout Pendant from Ida ou Semlal

£125.00

This striking enamelled tagemout (egg) pendant from the region of Ida ou Semlal, Morocco, was most likely worn as the central element of a fibula or necklace. It is good quality silver (tested) and features enamelling in yellow and green that is synonymous with this region of Morocco, also silver filigree work. It has three suspended coin dangles with coins dated 1331 in the Hijri calendar corresponding with 1912 in the Gregorian calendar. Each coin has a glass bead attached. A lovely antique item with some wear commensurate with age (see photos).
