A vintage statement Tuareg necklace comprising a multi-stranded leather cord bound with several geometrically patterned leather/plastic strips. The central pendant of the necklace is an old engraved brass kitab. 

Tuareg people would often make their own traditional necklaces more personal by adding elements, beads and motifs found on their travels. In this case, the central pendant is accompanied by shells, resin and plastic beads and a fish pendant with ‘lucky’ inscribed on the back. Necklaces such as this were seen as protective. A unique tribal necklace, a rare find. Collector’s piece.
