Rare Antique Tunisian 'Chachbaghir' Temporal Head Adornment
A rare antique silver and enamel chachbaghir head/temporal ornament from Djerba, Tunisia. It is more than 100 years old. Traditionally it would have been used as a temporal ornament attached to a woman’s veil or hair. The temporal is in the shape of the Tanit goddess, often worn as a protective symbol.
Remnants of yellow, green and blue enamel adorn the old triangular element and red embedded glass cut stones further embellish the piece. Four long original chains are completed with various antique pendants including one representing a cylindrical amulet, echoing the protective nature of this temporal.
A stunning piece with natural patina and wear, perfect for the discerning collector. It is in antique condition commensurate with age.
