Vintage Silver Tuareg Tisek Ring, Mali
Lovely vintage Tuareg silver ring with carnelian insert, made in the 1950s. This ring is nicely decorated with hand-etched tribal designs on both sides of the silver setting and a punched design on the band.
Tisek rings can be worn as finger rings or as pendants on leather cord. Tuareg people also wear them braided into their hair. This ring is likely to have been worn as a finger ring. The carnelian represents the life force and offers perceived protection to the wearer. An attractive old ring in good vintage condition with beautiful patina.
