Stunning old authentic Moroccan Amazigh (Berber) necklace with original stringing from the Draa Valley, South Morocco.

This is a truly unique masterpiece comprising large old amber beads, many strands of old Mediterranean coral strung with amazonite and stone, silver and glass beads, and interspersed with small patterned shells. It also has eight large jet black beads, known in Morocco as ‘tak tak’ beads, highly sought after by collectors.

The necklace comprises nineteen genuine amber beads in total, ranging in size and hue. At the centre are seven larger beads with six smaller beads on either side at the opposite end of the necklace. Each bead is separated from the next by means of a leather disc, commonly inserted to stop the beads from rubbing against each other and possibly causing damage. The last photo shows the reverse of the complete necklace.
