Outstanding Old Middle Eastern Bazuband Plaque Amulets - RARE

£595.00

These are three magnificent plaque amulets from an old Islamic bazuband, made in the Qajar era. They form an upper arm ornament believed to offer protection from both physical and spiritual harm. The plaques are finely engraved. Two of the plaques appear to be identical; the third presumably has been worn as the central piece to this bazuband.

The central design of the two identical plaques features a grid pattern, possibly a 'magic square' with words, symbols and numbers, surrounded by circular and linear etchings. The third plaque has very elaborate etching, a work of painstaking art. They all have wonderful patina due to age.

This type of bazuband would typically be found in private collections and museums today. This is a very rare find for the discerning collector.
