Old Large Conus Shell Bead, Mauritania
A beautiful vintage conus shell whorl from Mauritania, approximately 4.6 cm in diameter. It would have been used by women as hair adornment, braided into tresses or as a traditional necklace element. It may also have been used in trade as currency.
It is strung on a leather cord for immediate wear as an eye-catching necklace if desired. Alternatively it may be useful for making jewellery or sewing onto fabric, adorning handmade bags or other goods.
Photo props are not included.
