Antique Turkmen Tekke pendant box – rare
This beautiful late 19th century circular amulet box is made of high-grade silver (tested) with floral fire gilding and wirework. It has a central carnelian stone and would have been worn as a cherished part of a tribal bridal outfit. Scriptures would have been added inside the box which were believed to attract good fortune, prosperity and health to the bride. This is a lovely example of this type of ethnic adornment, also known as girda or gulyakhan. It is in very good condition for its age.
