Antique Leather Tuareg Double Tcherot Amulet, Niger, West Africa
£175.00
An antique silver (tested) and leather double tcherot, made by Tuareg people in Niger, West Africa circa 1940. The base is metal with a decorative incised silver sheet, the whole amulet then covered in leather. The leather cord is original and decorative with trade beads.
A fine example of a traditional Tuareg tcherot which would have contained verses from the Qur'an, believed to afford protection to the wearer. A collectible piece in very good condition for its age.
