Old Ethiopian or Yemeni Amulet Pendant
A decorative amulet with bell dangles and red glass cabochons.
The jangling of the bells is believed to ward off all evil and provide protection for the wearer. Red glass cabochons like those used here are often used in Yemeni jewellery to bring good health to the wearer, especially during childbirth. An eye-catching piece, made early 20th century.
This piece is made of low-grade silver and is likely to have been made in either Ethiopia or Yemen.
