Antique Ethiopian or Yemeni Belt Buckle
Antique belt buckle, made in the 1920s. Held together by a full-length pin, this interesting piece comprises two ornately decorated plates with red glass cabochons. It is possibly a belt buckle.
Red glass cabochons like those used here are often used in Yemeni jewellery to bring good health to the wearer, especially during childbirth.
This piece is made of low-grade silver and is likely to have been made in either Ethiopia or Yemen.
An unusual find.
