This type of necklace was favoured by both Jewish and Muslim people alike and could be worn in several ways: as a choker, hooked onto a headdress or as a frontal head ornament.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe detailing on this labbeh is amazing. It comprises 24 ornate rectangular plaques, each one finely decorated with a filigree floral design and a central turquoise bead. These are strung together with triangular terminal pieces at each end and fastened with a hook and eye clasp on a silver chain. Suspended from the plaques are multiple ornate filigree dangles with diverse intricate designs, yet largely arranged symmetrically to give uniformity to the necklace.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are still traces of the original gilding on the silver.
